Gilgit-Baltistan’s election authorities have finalised results for all 24 general seats of the regional assembly, bringing the post-poll picture into clearer focus after earlier results had been issued for 21 constituencies.
According to the final outcome, the Pakistan Peoples Party emerged as the largest party in the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly with 11 seats. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz followed as the second major party, while other seats were won by smaller parties and independent candidates.
Earlier, the Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan had notified results for 21 of the 24 constituencies. At that stage, three seats — GBA-9 Skardu-3, GBA-15 Diamer-1 and GBA-17 Diamer-3 — were still awaiting final announcement.
The partial results had placed PPP ahead with nine seats, followed by PML-N with six seats. The Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party had secured four seats, while Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen and an independent candidate had won one seat each.
With the remaining constituencies now finalised, PPP’s total rose to 11 seats, strengthening its position as the leading party in the new assembly. However, the party will still need to manage support from allies or independents to comfortably move toward government formation.
The final results also signal a competitive political landscape in Gilgit-Baltistan, where regional concerns, local alliances and constituency-level voting patterns played a major role in shaping the outcome.
Political activity is now expected to shift toward consultations for the formation of the next government. Parties and elected members are likely to begin discussions over possible alliances, assembly leadership and cabinet arrangements.
The completion of the result process ends days of uncertainty following polling across the mountainous region. The new assembly will face key governance challenges, including development demands, employment concerns, infrastructure needs and public service delivery across remote districts.
For PPP, the result gives the party a strong starting point in the race to form the next government. For PML-N and other elected groups, the final numbers leave room for political negotiations as the assembly prepares for its next phase.
