Pakistan have announced their 15-member men’s squad for the Asian Games 2026, naming Sahibzada Farhan as captain for the T20I-format cricket competition in Japan.
Abdul Samad has been appointed vice-captain as Pakistan prepare for the continental event, which will be held in Aichi-Nagoya from September 19 to October 4, 2026. The men’s cricket competition is scheduled to begin on September 24, while the medal matches will be played on October 3.
Farhan’s appointment comes after a strong run in Pakistan’s T20I setup. The 30-year-old opener has represented Pakistan in 46 T20Is, scoring 1,305 runs with two centuries and 10 half-centuries.
The squad includes a mix of senior white-ball players and emerging names. Saim Ayub, Usman Khan, Abrar Ahmed, Arafat Minhas, Hasan Nawaz and Mohammad Salman Mirza are among the notable selections.
Four players in the squad — Akif Javed, Ali Raza, Maaz Sadaqat and Saad Masood — are yet to make their T20I debuts for Pakistan. Their inclusion signals Pakistan’s intent to use the Asian Games as an opportunity to test developing talent in a major multi-sport competition.
