The Ministry of IT and Telecom (MoITT), along with the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), has officially launched the Prime Minister's SkillTech Pakistan program. The launch event, called "Building Tomorrow", took place in Islamabad. This new government program aims to train 2.1 million Pakistanis in modern tech skills over the next three years. It focuses on preparing youth for jobs in areas like artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, cloud computing, web and mobile development, and quality assurance.

What is SkillTech Pakistan?

A National Program for Digital Skills

SkillTech Pakistan is designed to boost employment by giving young Pakistanis in-demand digital skills. It supports the growing IT sector and helps meet international market needs.

Led by MoITT and PSEB

This project is led by the Ministry of IT and Telecom and PSEB. At the launch event, Minister of State for IT, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, highlighted

The government's aim to create tech opportunities for youth and grow the digital economy.

Main Features of the Program

Three Confirmed Flagship Programs

At the launch, officials announced that the SkillTech platform will include six flagship programs, but only three have been confirmed so far:

  • Skill Bridge: Paid internships and apprenticeships to connect IT graduates with employers.

  • Certified to Export (C2X): Helps IT companies meet global standards like ISO and GDPR.

  • SkillLift 1.0: Bootcamps for hands-on training in top tech fields such as AI, cloud computing, and web/mobile development.

The details of the remaining three flagship programs have not yet been released by the authorities.

Focus on Jobs and IT Exports

This new platform builds on the success of DigiSkills, which trained over 3 million people. With SkillTech, the goal is to train even more and boost Pakistan’s IT exports, which already hit $691 million in the first two months of FY2025.

SkillTech Pakistan is a big step toward creating a skilled digital workforce and making Pakistan stronger in the global tech world.
