The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has joined hands with top Chinese companies to launch a training program for 100 young engineers from Pakistan. The goal is to help these engineers gain practical experience, learn about the latest technologies, and understand how the engineering industry works at an international level.
According to PEC, this program will include workshops, on-site training, and mentorship in areas like smart manufacturing, infrastructure development, and automation. Some of the selected engineers may also get the chance to work as interns with Chinese companies, giving them valuable exposure to real-world projects and global engineering practices.
“This is a big step for our young engineers. They will not only learn new skills but also get exposure to international standards, which is important for their future growth and job readiness,” said a PEC spokesperson. “We believe such collaborations are essential for building a strong and future-ready engineering workforce.”
This training plan follows other efforts by PEC to improve engineering education and professional development in Pakistan. Earlier this year, PEC signed an agreement with the Chinese Society of Engineers (CSE), allowing both countries to recognize each other’s engineering degrees and qualifications. This agreement is expected to make it easier for engineers to work across borders and be part of international projects.
Other similar programs are also running in Pakistan. For example, NAVTTC (National Vocational and Technical Training Commission) has been working with Chinese partners under the CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor) to offer training in various fields such as agriculture, artificial intelligence (AI), and construction. These programs aim to develop skills that meet modern industry needs.
Experts say that this kind of international training is very helpful for young professionals. It makes them more job-ready, builds confidence, and gives them a better chance of finding good opportunities both in Pakistan and abroad. It also helps Pakistan stay competitive in the global engineering and technology sectors.
More details about how to apply for this training and when it will begin are expected soon. PEC also plans to expand the program in the future so that more young engineers can benefit from this valuable opportunity.
