The Government of Pakistan has announced a major Eid relief package by reducing the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel by Rs. 22 per litre. The new prices came into effect nationwide from midnight on May 30, 2026, bringing some financial relief to citizens ahead of Eid al-Adha.
According to reports, petrol was previously hovering around Rs. 403.78 per litre before the latest reduction. After the Rs. 22 cut, consumers across the country are expected to benefit from lower fuel costs during the busy Eid travel period.
The decision has been widely described as an Eid-ul-Adha holiday bonanza for the public, especially for families planning to travel to their hometowns, villages, or relatives’ homes for the festive occasion. Fuel expenses usually rise during Eid as millions of people travel across cities and provinces.
The relief applies to both petrol and high-speed diesel, which are among the most used fuels in Pakistan. Petrol is commonly used by motorcycles, cars, and small vehicles, while high-speed diesel is widely used in buses, trucks, vans, and goods transport vehicles.
The reduction is expected to provide several benefits:
In cities such as Sialkot, the exact per-litre price may vary slightly from one fuel station to another due to dealer margins and local charges. However, the official state-level reduction of Rs. 22 per litre has been implemented nationwide.
Citizens have welcomed the move, saying it offers timely relief during a period when household expenses are already high due to Eid preparations, animal purchases, food items, and travel plans.
Transporters may also benefit from the reduction, but passengers are now hoping that bus, van, and intercity travel fares will also be adjusted accordingly. Whether transport fares come down will depend on local transport authorities and private operators.
The government’s move comes at a time when fuel prices remain one of the biggest concerns for ordinary Pakistanis. Even a small change in petrol and diesel prices can affect daily budgets, business costs, and inflation trends.
For many families, the Rs. 22 per litre reduction means cheaper travel during Eid al-Adha 2026. People traveling from Sialkot to nearby cities or other parts of Punjab may see noticeable savings in fuel expenses during the holiday period.
Overall, the government’s decision to reduce petrol and diesel prices before Eid has provided much-needed relief to the public. While citizens continue to face rising living costs, this fuel price cut is being seen as a positive step aimed at easing financial pressure during one of the country's busiest festive seasons.
