QUETTA: The Balochistan Assembly has approved the provincial budget worth Rs. 1.189 trillion for the upcoming fiscal year after completing discussions on budgetary proposals and departmental expenditures.
The budget, presented by the provincial government as part of its fiscal planning for the new financial year, outlines spending priorities aimed at improving public services, accelerating development projects, and supporting economic growth across the province.
Lawmakers debated allocations for key sectors before the House approved the budget, paving the way for implementation from the start of the new fiscal year.
The approved budget places significant emphasis on development spending, with allocations expected to support infrastructure, education, healthcare, water supply, and other public welfare initiatives.
Provincial authorities have stated that development projects will focus on improving connectivity, expanding access to essential services, and addressing long-standing challenges in remote districts. Similar budget frameworks in recent years have prioritized education, health, law and order, climate resilience, and infrastructure development across the province.
According to provincial officials, the budget has been designed to balance development needs with administrative expenditures while ensuring the continuation of ongoing projects.
The government has maintained that investment in public infrastructure and social sectors remains central to its strategy for promoting economic activity and improving living standards in Balochistan. Previous budget documents also highlighted development spending, revenue enhancement, and public welfare measures as key policy objectives.
During the budget session, members of both treasury and opposition benches presented recommendations and raised concerns regarding resource allocation, development priorities, and service delivery.
The Assembly reviewed expenditure demands before granting approval, enabling departments to proceed with spending plans for the next fiscal year. Similar budget approval sessions have previously included discussions on development allocations and public-sector performance.
With the budget now approved, provincial departments are expected to begin executing planned projects and programs under the new financial framework.
Government officials have expressed confidence that the approved allocations will help advance development goals, strengthen public services, and support economic activity across Balochistan during the coming fiscal year.
